Surprising turn in European football

The future of the European League of Football appears to be taking more concrete shape again. On Thursday, May 7, 2026, it became known that a restructuring solution had reportedly been found for the insolvent ELF.

This is a spectacular new development in European American football. While the European Football Alliance and AFLE – The League Europe have already formed new structures, the ELF could now also receive a continuation perspective.

Agreement with shareholder consortium

According to the published information, a solution to continue business operations was developed as part of a structured investor process. An agreement was reached between insolvency administrator Andreas Romey and a shareholder consortium around ELF founder Zeljko Karajica.

European football remains in motion — and the ELF may not be finished yet.
