Football before contract talk

C.J. Stroud is heading into an important season with the Houston Texans. Long-term contract questions are becoming louder, but Stroud is keeping his focus on the field. He wants to improve and let his performance answer the discussion.

For Houston, that mindset matters. Stroud has already shown major potential, but recent seasons also included pressure, setbacks and stretches in which the offense lacked consistency.

Texans need stability

The Texans have enough talent to remain relevant in the AFC. The key will be whether Stroud can play with calm, precision and trust again. Quarterbacks are not only judged by highlights, but by how they guide teams through difficult moments.

The offensive line, play-calling and chemistry with receivers will all matter. If Houston protects Stroud better and gives him clearer reads, the offense can become much more dangerous.
