A reset for Washington’s offense

Jayden Daniels is entering an important reset with the Washington Commanders. After two years under Kliff Kingsbury, the quarterback is now working with new offensive coordinator David Blough. For Daniels, that means more than new terminology and new calls. It also means a different role inside the offense.

The Commanders quarterback is expected to operate more often under center and to work within a system built around play action, zone runs and targeted attacks between the numbers and outside the hashes. Daniels has made a positive first impression and described the collaboration with Blough as creative, open and team-oriented.

More structure, more rhythm

For Washington, that development matters. Daniels is coming off a difficult season in which injuries and inconsistency held the offense back. The new approach is designed to give him more structure, rhythm and explosiveness.

Health will remain a central theme. The Commanders can only unlock their offensive ceiling with a stable Daniels. That is why the new system will be judged not only by how dynamic it looks, but also by how well it protects its quarterback and puts him in clear situations.

More than a new playbook

The reset under Blough is therefore more than a playbook change. Daniels now has to take the next step as a franchise quarterback – mentally, technically and physically.
