Paris Lights open AFLE era with statement win
The Paris Lights win their first official franchise game 30-8 against the Firenze Red Lions after overcoming an early deficit.
A historic start for Paris
The Paris Lights have opened their official AFLE franchise history with a clear statement. At the Complexe Sportif de l’Île-des-Vannes in L’Île-Saint-Denis, Paris defeated the Firenze Red Lions 30-8.
The game did not start smoothly for Paris. Firenze took an early 8-0 lead in the first quarter after a short rushing touchdown by Matthew McKay and a successful two-point conversion. From that point on, however, the Lights took control. Paris scored 14 points in the second quarter, added 13 more in the third and closed the game with a field goal in the final period.
Hillock and Wallace lead the way
Quarterback Evan Hillock was the key figure for the Paris offense. He completed 18 of 27 passes for 256 yards and 3 touchdowns, calmly guiding the Lights back after the early deficit.
Wide receiver Tristen Wallace stood out with 4 receptions for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns. His 59-yard touchdown in the second quarter brought Paris back into the game, and he later added another score to make it 21-8.
Armand Soulerot also played an important role. He rushed 9 times for 51 yards and one touchdown, and he also caught a touchdown pass from Hillock in the third quarter.
Paris controls the game after the first quarter
After the early 0-8 deficit, Paris did not allow another point. The defense settled in, while Firenze struggled to find offensive rhythm. The team stats underlined the story of the game: Paris finished with 358 total yards, while Firenze had only 126. Through the air, the difference was just as clear: 245 passing yards for the Lights compared to 54 for the Red Lions.
For the Paris Lights, this win is more than a successful season opener. It is a historic first step in the new league and a signal that the franchise wants to compete immediately. Firenze showed early danger, but after the first quarter the Red Lions had no answer to the adjustments made by Paris.
Paris Lights 30-8 Firenze Red Lions – a first franchise win with real statement value.
