Dominant start in Duisburg

Rhein Fire made an immediate statement to open their AFLE season. In front of their home crowd, the team beat the London Warriors clearly, 43-7, showing its quality especially after the early phase of the game.

The matchup initially looked closer than the final score suggests. London started well on defense, allowing only a field goal on Rhein Fire’s opening drive and stopping the second drive at the goal line. For a short stretch, the Warriors seemed capable of keeping the game competitive.

Safety changes the momentum

The turning point came deep in London’s own territory. Forced to operate from their own end zone, the Warriors gave up a safety to Marius Kensy. From that moment on, the game moved clearly in Rhein Fire’s direction.

Rhein Fire’s offense then found its rhythm. Jonathan Scott provided important ground-game production, while quarterback Kenji Bahar repeatedly connected with Harlan Kwofie and Kaylon Geiger Sr. As the game went on, the gap between the two teams became increasingly clear.

Marius Kensy stands out

One of the standout players of the evening was Marius Kensy. The German linebacker not only produced the safety, but also added an interception, a pass deflection, a tackle for loss and nine total tackles. He was one of the key figures in an already convincing team performance.

For London, turnovers were the major issue. Four giveaways were simply too much to overcome against a team of Rhein Fire’s quality. The Warriors only scored late, when Karé Lyles found Joe Hamilton for the touchdown that made it 7-43.

A clear message to the AFLE

Rhein Fire now move forward with plenty of confidence. The 43-7 win over London was more than a season-opening victory; it was a clear message to the league that Rhein Fire are ready to play a major role in the AFLE from the start.
